App settings

The defaults every new session starts with, and where Billet keeps its settings and logs.

Open settings with Ctrl + , (on a Mac, Command + ,). Changes save as you make them. Press Esc to go back to your desktops.

These are defaults for the next session. To change something during a session, use the session window's menus. See During a session.

Display

Setting What it does
Frame rate 30 (the default) or 60 frames a second. Fewer frames give a sharper picture at the same bandwidth. 60 is smoother for video and fast motion.
Screens How many of the desktop's monitors to open windows for. Each one costs bandwidth and a video encoder on the host, so ask for what you will look at.
Reduce colour detail Spends fewer bits on colour. Leave it off for photos, video, or matching brand colours.
Slow down in the background Drops to one frame a second while the session window is not in front.

Audio

Setting What it does
Play sound in the background Off by default, so a session you are not looking at stays quiet.

Advanced

Setting What it does
Video codec Leave this on Automatic, which lets your computer and the desktop agree on the best codec both can do. Pin one only if your IT team asks you to.
  • Deployments lists the portals Billet trusts. See Trusted deployments.
  • Tickets and links says whether this copy of Billet opens billet:// links and .billet files, and can take that over (Open tickets with this copy) or give it up.
